Hi there, welcome to RemoteHotelier. The Skift Global Forum didn’t disappoint. Brian Chesky (Airbnb’s CEO) was one of the main protagonists and he used the occasion to reveal a major surprise for hoteliers. Shiji and Amadeus are also bringing forward an initiative that deserves attention.
This week, I’m also sharing something new that I hope you find valuable, a hotel tech job board section. More about this below. Let’s get started!
In today’s newsletter:
🛏️ Airbnb sets sights on hotel listings
🛠️ Amadeus and Shiji simplify hotel tech
🤖 Booking bets on agentic AI
💼 + 3 new jobs in hotel tech
🏨 + 5 deals & updates
🗞️ + 4 hotel tech extra news
#1 Airbnb sets sights on hotel listings.
Brian Chesky announces Airbnb is working on a dedicated hotel interface to connect hotel inventory to its platform.
Chesky says the goal is to make the hotel onboarding process much easier.
The company wants to address gaps in its current system that frustrate hotel operators.
This improved interface could let Airbnb compete directly with Booking.com and Expedia for hotel listings.
The launch date hasn’t been announced yet, but the project is a top priority for Airbnb.
This is part of Airbnb’s plan to become an all-in-one app with services like private chefs and photographers.
Why this matters: For years, Airbnb has tried to eat hotel demand. With this move, it seems they’re inviting hotels to profit from their ecosystem. Competition with Booking and Expedia means hoteliers may see better terms or more negotiating power if this strategy gets traction.
#2 Amadeus and Shiji simplify hotel tech.
Amadeus and Shiji partner to deliver a single hospitality technology suite, unifying systems and enabling personalized guest experiences for hotels worldwide.
The partnership makes Amadeus CRS the master for inventory, rates, and availability.
Hotels will manage more technology needs through a single provider, reducing vendor complexity and fragmentation.
The collaboration offers global reach, promising consistent support and a dedicated service for international hotel chains.
By the way, Amadeus has been very active this year.
Why this matters: If this partnership delivers, we could see international chains going down this path. Having one source of truth could mean fewer costly mistakes and less staff frustration, and that’s something hotel companies are willing to invest millions on.
#3 Booking bets on agentic AI.
Booking Holdings invests in agentic AI to create personalized travel services that challenge tech giants like Google and OpenAI.
The new agentic AI will handle hotel bookings, flights, and full trip planning for users.
Booking is working with Microsoft and Amazon to build this advanced AI.
This move aims to raise customer loyalty and set higher standards in the online travel industry.
Why this matters: If AI decides where guests book, then being visible in these systems could be as important as SEO or OTA ranking is today. Hoteliers need to watch closely how agentic AI sets its criteria, because it can quietly reshape distribution power.
