About

RemoteHotelier is the free weekly newsletter that brings you the most interesting news about technology for hotels.

Who’s behind this?

My name is Jose. I'm originally from Spain, but I spent almost half of my career in the UK. I've worked for more than a decade with major hotel brands like Ibis, Mercure and Novotel. I started in hotel operations, but I transitioned into hotel tech while I was studying Computer Engineering.

The first picture is from 2017, when I was still working as a hotel receptionist while studying Computer Engineering, a few months before moving to the UK.

The second picture was taken in 2024. That’s the corner where I used to manage the technology of a hotel portfolio of 56 properties across Europe.

I know how it feels having to work with old systems that don’t talk to each other while the phone is ringing non-stop.

I've also been extremely lucky to work on massive hotel technology projects like PMS migrations, POS integrations, and much more.

So why does RemoteHotelier exist?

I became interested in technology for hotels when I was a trainee, but I struggled to find reliable sources to stay informed.

Even when I did, much of the information required technical knowledge to make sense out of it.

I believe that hotel tech should be easy to understand for anyone interested, regardless of background.

Over time, I built a system to scan multiple sources and get the perfect briefing for myself. Eventually, I shared it with my network, and then they started to find it useful and share it as well.

If you work in or around hotel technology, you might find it useful too.

Hi, I’m Jose 👋

That’s me in 2017, still working at Ibis while studying Computer Engineering, and getting ready to move to the UK a few months later.

I’ve spent more than a decade between hotel operations and hotel technology for major brands like Accor.

I know how it feels having to work with old systems that don’t talk to each other while the phone is ringing non-stop.

After years in hotel operations, I transitioned into hotel tech, managing PMS migrations, POS integrations, and much more. And after seeing both sides of the industry, something became painfully clear:

Everything is scattered.

People don’t have time to follow every trend.

Vendors don’t always understand what hotels actually need.

And everyone ends up overwhelmed by information that should be helping them, not slowing them down.

So why does RemoteHotelier exist?

If you work in hotels or hotel tech, you already know the problem.

New tools, integrations, AI, automation… every week there’s something new to learn. And the information is spread across multiple sources.

I wanted one place where you could get clear and practical insights without wasting hours searching for them.

A weekly summary that cuts through noise. Something you can read in under four minutes and walk away informed.

RemoteHotelier exists to give you clarity. If you want simple, practical, and honest hotel tech insights, you’re in the right place.

I used to look after the technology for a portfolio of 56 hotels from this little corner.

And this is my desk, the place where I put the newsletter together every week. It’s not usually this tidy, if I’m honest.
