🛎️ OYO expands, Amadeus delivers, and Otelier upgrades IntelliSight

Also, Hyatt moves into the Baltics and TRIBE grows fast

Happy Thursday! Welcome to RemoteHotelier. I’d like to start this edition with a warm welcome to the 11 new subscribers, thanks for joining!

I honestly thought the summer period would leave us with little news to talk about. But I was completely wrong. There’s plenty of good stuff this week, so let’s get started.

In today’s newsletter:

🌏 OYO expands its reach and upgrades its global tech

📊 Amadeus grows while investing €700M in innovation

🚀 Otelier upgrades IntelliSight

🏨 + 5 hotel deals & developments

🗞️ + 5 hotel tech extra news

#1 OYO expands its reach and upgrades its global tech.

The company acquired short-term rental operator MadeComfy for $50 million in Australia and partnered with IBS Software to boost its digital infrastructure worldwide.

  • OYO is looking to expand its presence in Australia and New Zealand.

  • MadeComfy will maintain its brand and benefit from OYO’s tech and revenue tools.

  • OYO will integrate IBS’s iStay platform for real-time content, pricing, and availability.

  • They plan to integrate membership programs to provide unified services globally.

Why this matters: For hotels, this signals a future where platforms like OYO may offer more tech leverage and access to broader demand, without giving up brand identity. Also, it’s not very common to see a big company making moves in two key areas at the same time, so this is quite remarkable and worth paying attention to.

#2 Amadeus grows while investing €700M in innovation.

Amadeus published the results of 2025's first half, with a 6.8% revenue growth. They also showed strong performance across multiple segments and continued investment in innovation.

  • They invested more than €700 million in research and development, paving the way for more future growth.

  • This positive achievement shows potential for future advancements in the hospitality tech sector.

  • They acquired ForwardKeys back in May for €15.3 million, and that was the 20th acquisition since 2012.

Why this matters: Increasing revenue is hard. But increasing revenue while handling multiple acquisitions must be really tough. Amadeus achievements in strategic investments highlight its ability to lead innovation in hospitality tech.

#3 Otelier upgrades IntelliSight

Otelier released a major upgrade to IntelliSight, its flagship business intelligence platform. They rebuilt it using modern architecture to offer faster, cleaner, and more flexible data integration across hotel operations.

  • This update aims to give hoteliers unified visibility into both financial and operational performance, improving decision-making at both levels.

  • It integrates with Opera Cloud, Sage Intacct, and HotelKey for broader data input.

  • They offer modular dashboards, portfolio scalability, and mobile access for real-time use across departments.

Why this matters: Most hotel BI tools focus on either revenue or operations, but IntelliSight wants both. For hoteliers, this means fewer data silos, faster insights, and decisions based on data. In a market where every percentage point of margin matters, tools like this can directly impact profitability.

  • Hyatt penetrates into Estonia with Hyatt Place Tallinn, improving its Baltic presence.

🔦 IN THE SPOTLIGHT

Doesn’t it, though? This is the opening sentence of a longer post, but it resonated with me. Not very long ago, I worked on a project for removing “physical barriers” and push mobility in hotels.

Removing the front office in a hotel brings expected reactions (hello resistance to change đź‘‹), but a few others (sort of) unexpected challenges. Just to mention a few:

  • Hotel staff having to interact with guests in an altered state, to say the least.

  • Not having a firm surface where guests can fill/sign papers.

  • Where the h*ll do we put the printer?

All these were resolved with patches. Well, not the altered state of the guests. Not much we could do there. But my point is that a few months after, COVID hit. And very soon, I was involved on a project to bring back the “physical barriers“ as soon as possible.

Let’s be honest, it’s impossible to predict a global shutdown that nukes the entire industry in a few weeks. But I think the best approach, as with many other topics, is a hybrid method.

I advocate for mobility, but I think to completely remove the desk is a big mistake. However, combining mobility with smaller front offices could be a good balance between the guest feeling more welcome and staff having something to be behind if they need/want to.
