Welcome to RemoteHotelier!
What if rebuilding your tech stack was the only way to stay competitive? One hotel group just did it, betting big on AI, mobile and loyalty.
Also, millions are flowing into hospitality startups. But what’s attracting investors this time isn’t product or marketing, it’s something far more strategic.
In today’s newsletter:
📱 BWH Hotels rebuilds its tech from scratch
🏔️ Travelers trade beaches for books and mountains
đź’° Fresh funding for travel platforms
🏨 + 3 deals & updates
đź’Ľ + 3 new jobs in hotel tech
🗞️ + 5 hotel tech extra news
#1 BWH Hotels rebuilds its tech from scratch.
BWH Hotels is modernizing its tech stack, focusing on AI search, a unified loyalty program, and a new PMS to streamline operations.
The company is building a mobile-first tech infrastructure and optimizing content for AI search engines.
They see AI as a way to improve search results and attract more specific guest segments.
Best Western and World Hotels loyalty programs will be merged for better personalization.
AutoClerk Atlas, the new PMS, supports easy team training and automated payments, among other features.
They are collaborating with HotelKey, an established PMS provider, to fine tune AutoClerk Atlas.
Why this matters: Hotels adopting mobile systems will likely have smoother workflows and faster staff onboarding. That’s a big plus in a market where turnover hurts efficiency. The new PMS collaboration suggests that even big hotel groups now see the value of working with proven vendors instead of building everything in-house.
#2 Travelers trade beaches for books and mountains.
Skyscanner's Travel Trends 2026 report shows travelers favor personalized trips, with rising interest in beauty, adventure and multi-generational travel.
Social media, especially TikTok, inspires new travel habits and itineraries in wellness and food experiences.
Bookings for mountain accommodations rise by 103%, indicating a big trend toward natural destinations.
The amount of guests looking for nice spots to read is also growing, with a 70% boost in hotel bookings using the filter “library” when doing a reservation.
Family trips are on the rise too, focusing on shared experiences and making travel costs more manageable.
Why this matters: The shift toward personalization signals that guests are moving away from standard packages in favor of meaningful stays. Hotels that can connect rooms, amenities and local experiences with these interests will stand out. The spike in library and mountain searches isn’t random, it shows a growing demand for calm and slow getaways in the current fast world. There’s room for properties that know how to market serenity instead of speed.
#3 Fresh funding for travel platforms.
Funding momentum continues in hospitality and travel tech, with a few investments worth mentioning:
Arbio, a proptech startup with a focus on AI, raises $36 million to scale its technology.
Boom, a property management platform designed for STR with built-in automation and guest messaging, raises $12.7 million to expand its tech.
Ixigo, a booking platform specializing in affordable train and bus travel, gets a $15 million investment from to support its expansion in India’s online travel sector.
Navan, a corporate travel and expense management platform, is going ahead with its IPO, aiming for a $6.45 billion valuation.
Why this matters: Automation, personalization and niche booking models are still attracting serious capital. For hotels, that means more potential tech partners, but also more competition from agile STR tools.
