šŸ›Žļø Sabre steps out, Marriott buys in and AccorInvest becomes Essendi

Also, Cvent buys Prismm and Choice Hotels upgrades its PMS with Mews

Hi friends, welcome to RemoteHotelier. From billion-dollar exits to smart new alliances, this week proves that innovation is happening at every layer of the stack.

If you’re in this space, now’s the time to lean in, keep watching and maybe start asking: what’s next?

Let’s check in on what’s new in hotel tech this week:

šŸ’ø Sabre exits hotel tech in $1.1B deal

Remember a few weeks back when we hinted Sabre might leave hotel tech behind? Well, here it is. The company is selling its entire hospitality business unit to private equity firm TPG for $1.1 billion, a deal expected to close this year.

Sabre will double down on its airline and agency business. TPG is expected to keep the hotel platform running under new leadership.

CEO Kurt Ekert framed it as a ā€œstrategic moveā€ which sounds like corporate slang for ā€œwe’re changing lanesā€.

We can expect this to spark fresh investment in the acquired business. And probably some rebranding ahead.

šŸ›’ Marriott and Cvent both go shopping

Two very different acquisitions made waves this week:

Marriott is acquiring citizenM for $355 million, betting on the brand’s modern aesthetic and global appeal to draw younger guests.

Cvent buys Prismm, a 3D spatial design platform that brings floorplans and layouts to life for meetings and events.

One deal is about physical experience, the other digital. But both suggest brands are investing in how hotels look and feel, whether online or physical.

šŸ¤ Mews and Agilysys team up with hotel giants

Mews announced a major rollout with Choice Hotels International, covering 500+ properties and integrating its cloud-based PMS into multiple brands.

At the same time, Agilysys partnered with Bally’s Baton Rouge, delivering a full upgrade from guest experience to F&B.

Both partnerships reflect a growing trend, hotels want fewer legacy systems.

šŸ’° Juno secures $2M funding

Juno, a new corporate travel platform, secured $2 million in seed funding to bring a fresh take on booking and managing work trips.

Backed by Steve Singh, the founder of Concur (among many other ventures), Juno plans to simplify how businesses manage travel.

It’s still early, but when someone with these credentials steps in, it’s worth watching.

šŸ–„ļø 7.9% annual growth expected in hotel ICT

A new report suggests that ICT adoption in hospitality will grow at 7.9% through 2030, driven by demand for better automation, cloud services, and guest-facing tech.

šŸ’” Lighthouse launches new hotel platform for hotel groups

Lighthouse just released a platform built for multi-property hotel groups, promising clearer benchmarking, smarter pricing, and better team coordination.

It’s a single dashboard designed to connect revenue, sales and distribution in real time.

Lighthouse CEO Sean Fitzpatrick says this was built by demand, based on user feedback.

šŸ—£ļø RateGain rolls out AI voice for CRS

RateGain has launched the first AI-powered voice agent that connects directly to a hotel’s central reservation system.

The agent can answer availability questions, quote prices, and even help complete bookings.

CEO Bhanu Chopra says the goal is to reduce call wait times and boost booking conversion.

šŸ“· Visual of the Week: AccorInvest rebrands to Essendi

AccorInvest is now Essendi, a rebrand aimed at promoting ā€œresponsible leadershipā€ in the hospitality space.

This change comes with a bigger mission: investing in people and sustainable hospitality practices worldwide.

The company manages over 800 properties and now wants to position itself as more than a hotel owner.

A bold move that could redefine its public image, and subtly draw a clear line from Accor.
