Hi friends, welcome to RemoteHotelier. What a week for hotel tech, weāve got plenty to talk about. Acquisitions, built-in pricing tools, Airbnbās latest results, Tripadvisorās big move and more.
Letās check in on whatās new in hotel tech this week:
š Airbnb growth softens, international gains grow
Quarterly bookings dipped and Airbnb is taking it seriously.
CEO Brian Chesky highlighted weaker demand in the US and plans to focus more on growth outside North America, with a stronger presence in Asia and Latin America.
Thereās also a bigger push around pricing transparency, which has been a recurring customer complaint. The goal is to win back hosts and guests alike.
By the way, Airbnb just won a quiet but important legal battle against Vrbo. The case involved listings copied onto Vrbo without the hostās permission, and the court ruled in Airbnbās favor.
š Stayntouch named top pms for 2025
Congrats to Stayntouch, officially crowned 2025 āHotel PMS of the Yearā by TravelTech Breakthrough.
The recognition points to the brandās ongoing focus on usability, clean interfaces and open APIs. Three things hotel teams appreciate.
This award helps validate Stayntouchās position among giants. Also, a solid reminder that sometimes less is more.
š¤ Tripadvisor finalizes merger
Tripadvisor officially acquires Liberty Tripadvisor Holdings in a $430 million deal.
The result is a leaner Tripadvisor with fewer shareholders, no voting control blocks and a new legal home in Nevada.
CEO Matt Goldberg didnāt announce any new strategic plans, but this cleanup sets the stage for potential future actions.
š° Casago acquires Vacasa
Casago just completed its acquisition of Vacasa, creating one of the largest vacation rental management brands in North America, with more than 40,000 properties under its umbrella. Yes, thatās a lot of keys to manage.
CEO Steve Schwab emphasized staying true to Casagoās roots: local teams, owner-first mindset and a commitment to hospitality.
š Cendyn invests deeper in its revenue tools
Cendyn just rolled out a series of upgrades to its revenue tools Guestrev and Grouprev, aimed at helping hotel and casino revenue managers optimize pricing across transient and group business.
Updates include enriched lost business data, historical rate tracking and integrations with Amadeus and Agilysys for faster access to PMS and RFP data.
The improvements reduce manual steps and improve pricing decisions at the segment level.
With over 35,000 hotel clients, Cendyn is clearly focused on deeper insights, cleaner data and faster workflows.
š·ļø Hospitable adds dynamic pricing
Hospitable just launched a built-in dynamic pricing tool with no extra cost and no third-party integration needed.
Hosts now get real-time pricing recommendations straight inside their calendar, with flexible settings and even a heat map showing live demand.
CEO Pierre-Camille Hamana says this is about simplicity and accessibility: too many hosts still struggle to hit occupancy or manage pricing.
This new feature pushes Hospitable further toward becoming an all-in-one platform.
š· Visual of the Week: Mews Unfold 2025
As expected, the protagonist of Mews Unfold 2025 was AI. Speakers like Matthijs Welle (Mews) and Bryson Koehler (Revinate) talked about real obstacles: bad data, lack of training, and low staff adoption.
The main takeaway for me is this: AI isnāt magic, itās a tool. Way too many hotels have great insights, but no action.
Multiple speakers at the event echoed the same thing: the tech is there, but adoption still struggles.
Thatās a wrap for today, thank you for reading.
